Orbit, A Solar System for Piano is a collection of ten original piano pieces inspired by the Sun and planets of our solar system. Written mainly for children and teenagers, the pieces were created to combine strong musical imagery with approachable pianistic writing, exploring atmosphere, rhythm, colour and character at a range of levels. 
 
 
The collection began while preparing a space-themed recital, when I realised there were surprisingly few contemporary pieces available for younger pianists based around the solar system! Many of these pieces were first performed by the children they were written for at the Beyond the Stars recital in November 2023, although the full collection was completed a little later.
